PAPRIKA STUDIO-CABARET SERIES

Every night at the Festival (except Sunday), we have a cabaret-style performance in the Far Studio with available refreshments, artist mingling, a silent auction, and frankly, fun. Every evening starts after the performances end (around 9:30) and it all wraps up each night by 11:00 pm.

Friday, March 19:
Opening Night Party with The Roaring Girl Cabaret The Roaring Girl Cabaret concocts a captivating blend of styles, combining an opera-trained vocalist with the joy of a fiddle-driven reel, jazz-inflected rhythms with the sigh of the saddest country ballads. This high-energy, unique group of performers will open the 2010 Festival with a bang!

Saturday, March 20:
Singer-Songwriter Night hosted by Chelsea Manders Hosted by the always irreverent Chelsea Manders, this evening will feature a broad spectrum of emerging Singer-Songwriters—some of whom are Festival participants this year! A casual night in the cabaret to soak in the sometimes poignant and sometimes hilarious sounds of Toronto’s youngest (and best!) Singer-Songwriters.

Monday, March 22:
Kate Sloan Kate Sloan is a 17-year-old Singer-Songwriter born & raised in Toronto. Her music, which is influenced by many genres ranging from indie-rock to showtunes, has a large fan following on YouTube (youtube.com/kaile). Her other hobbies include improv, painting, and hula hooping. Miss Kate Sloan and you’ll be missing out.

Tuesday, March 23: Jesse Gold and Friends
Jesse Gold is another YouTube sensation—a young virtuoso who is a talented guitar-player, pianist and Singer-Songwriter. Jesse and his band, Good Times, play around Toronto consistently, wowing audiences of all ages with their performance wit and high-class work.

Wednesday, March 24:
Spoken Word Night hosted by Antonio Cayonne Come out and meet Toronto’s next generation of Spoken Word artists. Hosted by actor/teacher/performer/slam poet Antonio Cayonne, this is sure to be a very different night in the Studio-Cabaret—one that you won’t forget!

Thursday, March 25:
Musical Theatre Night hosted by Jenni Burke This will be a night filled with showtunes from the past and present, hosted by Jenni Burke (of the weekly Curtains Down at the Pantages Lounge). Featuring performers from One Song Glory (Acting Up Stage) and our own Paprika Festival, it will be a night of Broadway favourites for all to enjoy.

Friday, March 26:
