If you have a script between 10 – 30 minutes in length sitting in your bottom draw (or can write one over Summer), send it to us. You need a team of collaborators – director, actors, stage manager – and a script. You will get a chance to work on your piece with a professional artist mentor and perform it in the 2 week festival at Tarragon Theatre Studios. In addition to your script, please include an application form (click on link to download application form).


Your team also attends the Paprika Festival Training Days where you get to do workshops with guest artists in acting, directing, writing and producing your own work. Your team will also get a chance to present their work in progress and see short presentations of other productions and works in progress throughout the development period.

We are looking for young artists of all types - visual artists, musicians, hip-hop artists, dancers, directors, actors, playwrights – who want a chance to do hands-on workshops with Professional Artists and develop an idea(s) for the festival on their own or with other artists in the Creator’s Unit. It’s a fantastic way to meet other talented young artists, learn new skills and develop your own original piece which will receive multiple performances or showings in the Paprika Festival at Tarragon Theatre in March 2009. The Unit will meet every week on Monday or Tuesday from 6.30 – 8.30pm. The submission process for the Creator’s Unit is super easy!

Just send the following:
1. A small sample of your work – could be a page of writing, a couple of photographs, a short film or a music CD. If you are a performer just make a note and we’ll see your work live in the interview!

Backstage and Designer's Unit - Application Form Click Here

The backstage and designer’s unit is completely FREE. If you are interested in working backstage, producing a show in the festival or working as a set, costume, lighting or sound designer this is the unit for you! You will get a chance to meet weekly with a professional artist or producer/backstage professional. You’ll undertake workshops in design or producing or working backstage and then get a chance to work on one of the shows in the festival. EMAIL or MAIL us a sample of your work (if you’re a designer) and complete the following application form. The unit will meet once a week from 6.30 - 8.30pm (day TBA)
